    1. That Council direct staff to bring forward a by-law to regulate the discharge of Firearms and Bows as contained in Attachment No. 1 and amend the AMPS By-law accordingly.
    1. That Council approve the 2026 Council Meeting Schedule and Municipal Office Closures to be as follows:

    1. That Council direct staff to bring forward a By-law to amend the existing Delegation of Authority By-law 2024-123-RE.
    1. That Council direct staff to work with the owner to apply alternatives to demolition of the existing dwelling including relocation of the dwelling on the lot and integration into future development of the area; and

    2. That Council not pass a Notice of Intent to Designate for the property at this time.

  • WHEREAS Bloomington Road is a vital transportation corridor within York Region, serving as a key route for residents, businesses, and emergency services; and

    WHEREAS the anticipated increase in traffic volume due to ongoing and future developments in the Region necessitates proactive measures to ensure the road's capacity and safety; and

    WHEREAS the current infrastructure of Bloomington Road may not be sufficient to accommodate the projected traffic growth, leading to potential congestion, delays, and safety concerns; and

    NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council request York Region initiate a comprehensive traffic study to assess the current and future traffic demands on Bloomington Road; and 

    THAT the study consider a detailed plan for expansion, including but not limited to, widening the road, enhancing right of way, intersection improvements such as roundabouts, and improving traffic management systems; and

    THAT the study consider the implementation of a roundabout at the intersection of Bloomington Road and York Durham Line as well as other potential intersections including but not limited to Woodbine Avenue; and

    THAT if the study indicates that upgrades and improvements are warranted, that York Region shall prioritize this in a capital program within their 10-year capital plan to ensure the timely completion of the expansion project, with a focus on minimizing disruption to residents and businesses during the construction phase; and

    THAT York Region shall engage with local communities, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to ensure that the expansion project addresses the needs and concerns of all affected parties; and

    THAT this Resolution be circulated to York Region.

  • WHEREAS the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) represents the interests of member municipalities on policy and program matters that fall within federal jurisdiction; and

    WHEREAS FCM’s Board of Directors is comprised of elected municipal officials from all regions and sizes of communities to form a broad base of support and provide FCM with the united voice required to carry the municipal message to the federal government;

    THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville endorse Mayor Iain Lovatt to serve as a committee member on committees of FCM’s Board of Directors, for the period starting in June 2025 until the end of Council term in October 2026; and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Council assumes all costs associated with Mayor Lovatt attending FCM meetings; and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this resolution be sent to the President of FCM before the September 8, 2025 deadline.
